Judy Smith founded Rose Costumes (originally Secondhand Rose) in 1976 as a resale store that has since blossomed into a sprawling theatrical wonderland. The story of Rose Costumes is written lovingly with passion, innovation, and colorful characters. We are determined that the next chapter will be the grandest yet, and we invite you to help us write it!

Every cast member of Rose Costumes, affectionately dubbed Rosettes, loves to collaborate, teach, and create. Brilliant costume Creatologists lend their skills to building and expanding our collection, while the Rosettes assist to piece together every aspect of a character, from wardrobe to accessories to mannerisms.

Our Creatologists wield their wands to create ornate handmade pieces in our Imaginarium. Their varying specialties and collective passion combine to produce a wardrobe collection able to resurrect medieval kings, pull talking animals from the pages of a fairytale, or transform a pauper into a princess right in front of an audience.
